Set your Virtual Memory

Page Goals
  • If you have a second hard drive, move the page file to the second drive

While using virtual memory is much slower than using RAM, you almost always will need to use it even with a lot of Ram. If you don't have Virtual memory, instead of running slow, everything will crash.

Note that changing your virtual memory SHOULD ONLY BE DONE on computers that have a second hard drive (a second partition doesnt count). Relocating your Virtual Memory to the second drive will speed up your computer.

To set your virtual memory, Right click "My Computer" and click properties. Click the "advanced" tab, and under "performance", click "settings". Now click the "advanced" tab. Make sure both options are set to "programs", and then click "change" for Virtual Memory.

To relocate the virtual memory to the secondary drive, select your primary drive (c:) and click "No Paging File". Select your second drive and click "System Managed Size". Click ok and then reboot your computer.
