Frequently Asked Questions

This section covers a number of questions that are frequently searched for on the internet regarding computer stuff.

Why does the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon sometimes turn fom red to blue?

From the Install Antispyware page: A number of people (myself included) have noticed that every so often the red target icon in the system tray turns blue. All indicators so far point to this occuring when remote desktop or fast user switching has been used on the computer. While you should always check your antispyware every so often for latest defs and that a scan has been run, you should not worry about the blue icon as everyone who reports it reports their program is still functioning and up to date.

How do i remove the Quicktime Icon from the system tray?

From the Startup Items page: Right click the gray/blue Q icon in the system tray and click "Quicktime Preferences". If you are looking at a window that is wider than it is tall and has tabs, click the far right one and uncheck the bottom checkbox, something like "install Quicktime icon in system tray". If you are looking at a window that is taller than it is wide, with a drop down selection box at the top, select "Browser Plugin", and uncheck the bottom checkbox that mentions the icon in the system tray.
